Construction, Theft and the Missing Internet Link
Well, construction on the house is still going strong. The guys who were building the garage got sent home. They pretty much finished up what they were to work on. They tried to milk it for all it was worth because there isn’t a lot of work in Germany right now (winter time) and they were getting paid 30 euro and hour each. So, they are gone. They did a good job though. The garage is not quite finished…it still needs a roof. They were shopping that around and I think they should be getting that done this week. The guys on the front came last Wednesday but they were told to hold off until the garage people left. Well, usually before I leave for work I’ll unlock the door and maybe check my email before I go to work. We were using my cell phone (pictured left) and a Vodaphone cellular internet service (just like those AT&T commercials with the Brit and his laptop) to connect to the internet. Because we couldn’t get DSL and they haven’t come to install it yet, that’s what we had to use. Well, Thursday morning I go down there and the phone is gone! We had it connected to a usb extension cord from the computer into the kitchen so it could get a better reception. So yeah, totally gone…it is one of those things that we would definitely notice if it was gone. So, of course we tell our land lord who asks these guys who of course get all bent out of shape. So, the phone is missing along with the SIM. Fortunately they can’t make phone calls cause the SIM chip is just for internet use. Hopefully they aren’t going overboard. So now we don’t have internet until they come set us up which could be anywhere from today to two weeks from now. And, my nice cell phone is gone which is gonna be a pain to replace and my landlord wants to pay for it but it is going to cost them at least 300 euro. Ouch! So, we’ll see. So I have 42 unread emails in my inbox. I can see that they are there at work, but they block access to personal emails and blogs (all google and yahoo and msn stuff). Something about them not wanting to use government resources for personal stuff. Seeing as how your taxes are paying for me to write this since I am at work and using a government computer and my salary is based off taxes.
So anyway…we are still alive and well just without a good internet connection and my pretty phone is gone. But, we have lots of other fun stuff going on so whatever. It’ll all work out. Check you guys later!
Holy high bit rates Batman!
That’s right folks! We are finally gonna get DSL!!! I thougth I was gonna cry when Kristin called me up yesteday with the T-Com guy on the phone. He says we are changing services in your area and you will now get DSL! Not only that, but we will get a flat rate of 4 euro to call the states and a bunch of other stuff (see pic) all for only 49.99 euro. Heck of a deal since we are paying that much for just phone service. And we get a 16000 kbits/sec which is about 2MB/sec…faster than what we had even in Oklahoma. So, now we will be able to do all the thing that I want to do like web cam with you guys, use the skype phone and download music (more like steal music!) I am just so excited!

This is what I looked like when I found out! Excited right? I felt so doomed slinking down to the computer and slumping in front of a conenction speed less than .5MB/sec. What can you do with that? NOTHING! It makes you want to cry. So, we will soon be sending all kinds of content out there to you and the inter-highway at lightning speeds. Watch out world…the Baillio’s are on the march!
Music is fun…Music is great…get some more with this rebate!
Well, it isn’t really a rebate. Go to this website:

Register and post 10 cds. Please make sure as your referel you put aaron.baillio@gmail.com. That will get me some bonus points. Then you can start trading your cds! You can find just about anything unless it came out like a week ago. Seems like a cool site. I am not an advocate for stealing (yes I am) so make sure you don’t have a copy of your music laying around (like on your ipod) before you trade it (ingnore this last sentence). So, dig up those old cds and start trading!
