Ask for what you want!!!

Pout

This week I remembered a valuable lesson learned from mom…ask for what you want.  You never know what can happen…the best thing is that you get what you want!  The worst is nothing which is probably what you started off with in the first place.  Sometimes a compromise can be good and bad.  Just ask for what you want!
A good example is one time I was at a movie and the theater was a million degrees and it just made the movie going experience terrible.  So, on the way out I was going to tell someone and ask for a refund!  Well, I was with Kristin and her parents and they were more interested in leaving than asking that something be done.  Could we have gotten a refund?  Probably not, but maybe a pass for another movie.  Or maybe nothing, but at least the next people would have sat in comfort.  Another good example is I got a bad drink from Sonic.  Well, most people would just suffer through a bad drink. Just ask for a new one!  That is what they are there for.  Kristin has a Subway sandwhich where the girl sprayed dressing all over the sandwich and the paper.  Well, the girl was about to roll the sandwich in dressing dripped paper.  She protested and though the girl gave her a crazy look, she got what she wanted.

Well, my point is, ask and ye shall receive….well, in most cases. :)   I want a Wii.  I am asking for it!  (Insert your own jokes here)

Travel Part 2

December 14, 2006 at 4:47 pm (Uncategorized)

So, it is for sure now that we won’t be leaving till February 10th!  Three whole weeks after we initially thought we were going to.  But, I have a feeling this is a good thing overall.  I felt like we were a little crunched for time before and this gives us a little breathing room.  Also, we can keep our furniture shipments the same and get them earlier.  Plus we have more time to sell the house and car and all that jazz.  So I think this will be good overall.

I am getting pretty ‘trunky’ though.  I have no desire to do anything at work.  A good long break at Christmas will be good.  I am losing interest quickly but I can’t cause I’ll be here a while still.  Contracting is cool, but it is repetitive.  Well, talk to you fools later!

Health & Travel

December 12, 2006 at 1:42 pm (What's Happenin')

Finally after several long weeks, our family is finally free from illness!!!  Yeah!!!  No more vomiting and diarrhea (it was bad folks) and runny noses.  All this holiday merriment has taken its toll on us, but we are now recharged and revived for more merry making.  Remember from the scriptures, Eat, Drink and Be merry for tomorrow we die.  The lesson here, either never die and you’ll always be happy or live it up cause you won’t be around long!  (Seems like there was something in there about keeping the commandments, which I certainly advocate). :)

Well, as you know we are leaving for Germany in January…or are we?  Yes, we are leaving, but now I don’t know when.  They changed my start date because they are converting my pay system to a new “performance/incentive” program instead of just automatically getting a raise just for having made it another year.  Now they want to us to perform!!!  What lunacy!  Anyway, they changed my start date to Feb 4th.  Does that mean we won’t leave till February?  Possibly.  I am waiting to find out.  It is a mess.  If we do leave later, then I have to change the dates for our furniture pickup and all sorts of other stuff.

Speaking of, we won’t get our first shipment of stuff till after we have been there a month.  Our furniture for 2 months and our car somwhere inbetween that.  So, we will be living in a hotel for at least a month.  At least we will be making some extra cash while doing so.  I get about $190 per diem for food and hotel, Kristin gets 75% of that and Will gets 50%.  I don’t think we’ll spend all of it everyday so what we don’t spend we keep!  Yeah!  But, living in a hotel room may suck…especially for Will.  Someone will have to drive us around till we get new drivers licenses and a used car.  That’ll suck too.  Then we have to go house hunting and on and on!  What will we do with our pets?  I have no idea.  Fun stuff ahead.  We’ll keep you posted.

Man, we had a cold wind blow through and now everyone is sick!  Will threw up about 10 times on Tuesday, I got a stomach virus Tuesday through Thursday and Will threw up again on Thursday at Chili’s…I mean, it just kept on coming…it was a vomit flood…all over me!  Kristin has managed to come out of it unscathed.  Hopefully it stays that way!

Well, the Holiday season is upon us and whether or not you believe there is a war on Christmas or penguins or whatever innocent bystander, you gotta bring the cheer!  It is fun giving gifts you hope will be fun and appreciated.  Just to see the ones you love smile is the best.  Shopping can be tricky!  Making christmas cards is a lot of work too!  Not mention the hanging of lights, placing of decorations and eating of food!  Wait a sec…this sounds like a lot of work to me…except for that last part…I can eat good food any day.  Thank goodness it comes once a year!
