Halloween
What is halloween? Why do we celebrate this holiday? Other than remembering our pagan roots, does it have any other significance? The pope moved ‘All Saints Day’ to this day so we can celebrate all the forgotten saints this day…still, I see no value in that. Otherwise, it is a celebration created by the Irish pagans. Well, so much for Christianity anyway right? It is fun…more candy than you can stand…strangers coming to your door asking you for it all because they said trick or treat! What kind of lesson are we traching our kids?! And how come no one ever hands out tricks?
In all reality, I love halloween. We can put the macabre all around the house and pass it off as decoration. When else can you do that? All the ugly things get one day where they are accepted and that is the true meaning of halloween. So bring out your ugly, maimed or green and celebrate their hideousness. The rest of you, stay home. We see you all the other 364 days of the year.
Politics hurt all of us
That’s right..all that matters is if a donkey or an elephant is sitting in office. And the amazing thing is that both are willing to say whatever it takes to win…not to help the country. All they care about is winning and preventing the other side of the isle from getting more recruits. Here is how dems see conservatives…we leave our engines running all day, cut down trees for the fun of it, kill animals for sport and could care less about poor/sick people. The “evil” conservative. Conservative paint this picture of democrats…chained to trees, murdering babies through abortion for the fun of it, rewarding law breakers and godless jerks.
Now, I don’t know anyone who are any of those things…do you? I happen to be conservative, but I care about sick people. I care about the environment. I know deomcrats and they don’t enjoy killing babies and they all believe in God. So why is there such a divide? And while there is such a divide, us regular folks will never get things passed that will really matter to families because we are to concerned with a donkey or an elephant. We need to look for whoever will help the country…not the party.
So, coming down from my soap box I noticed that I love those Bare Naked Ladies….the music…not the other kind. Although I see nothing wrong with that if that is what you are into. 
I’ve been listening to them all morning…good stuff. It is nice to have some distractions from all the crap happening in the world today. BNL…you rule the world!
Selling the House
Man, selling your house sucks big time. Where do realtors get off charging so much to something so easy? 6%! I can do what they do for nothin’! It doesn’t help that after only 18 months we haven’t put hardly any money in the house as equity or payed down any of the mortgage. We got 103% loan cause we couldn’t afford a down payment. It got us in the house, but now we may just break even after dropping $3500 in updates. That’s the game you play in the real estate world I suppose.
Let me tell you though, I sure have learned a lot about home improvement…and major projects in general. The best advice I can give if you ever have a project is to expect the worst and hope for the best. Something wrong is gonna happen….it is inevitable. It will always take longer than you planned and something will have to be redone, if not once then several times before it is in a state that is acceptable. This is my advice from the pedastal….heed and be warned!
